Local Sports for Friday, January 6

The Fort Frances Lakers hit the ice tonight for the first time with new head coach Tyler Miller.

The Lakers open a two-game set in Sioux Lookout against the Bombers.
Miller was appointed interim head coach, following the release of Paul McLean last month.

In high school action, Northern Lakes won two of three games on the court against the Ignace Falcons.

The junior boys’ basketball team beat the Falcons 47-41, while the seniors fell 40-32.

The senior girls’ volleyball team lost three games to one.

The International Falls Broncos girls’ basketball team lost to Hibbing 53-39.

Grace Swenson led the Broncos with 11 points.
