Liberals Start Selling The Fall Economic Statement

Some help in the Fall Economic Statement for the beleaguered tourism industry in northern Ontario.

Associate Finance Minister Mona Fortier says all the economic development agencies, including FedNor, will be getting more money in the coming year.

“We announced that we would increase for all the regional economic agencies another top-up of $500 million, so part of that will go to FedNor,” explains Fortier.

“Twenty-five per cent of that will go to the tourism sector that has been deeply affected.”

Fortier says even though the deficit is expected to balloon to $400 billion this year, she calls it a down payment on our economic recovery.
