Less Spending On Highways Planned

The provincial government is poised to spend less on highway upgrades over the next five years.

A report from the Ontario Financial Accountability Office shows the Ford government intends to reduce spending by half a billion dollars by 2024.

The budget for this 2019-20 fiscal year is $2.8 million.

The reduction follows an increase in spending by 5 per cent since 2010.

The FAO adds the number of vehicles on those roads will grow by 1.9 per cent over the next five years.
