Legions Get Some Additional Dollars

More financial assistance for some of the district’s Royal Canadian Legions.

Legions in Fort Frances, Atikokan and Thunder Bay will share in $26 thousand from the federal government.

The funding is to help the Legions with operating costs.

“Almost every organization in Canada has been impacted in some way by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Royal Canadian Legions have been no different,” says Thunder Bay-Rainy River MPP Marcus Powlowski. “This funding will help these organizations continue to provide services to our veterans and the broader community for years to come.”

Legions haven’t been allowed to open during the recent lockdown.

Branch 29 in Fort Frances is receiving just over $4,300.

Branch 145 in Atikokan is getting over $3,100.

In November 2020, the government provided $14 million to the Royal Canadian Legion’s Dominion Command to district to local Legions.
