Large Forest Fire Burning In Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness

Minnesota dealing with a forest fire that is burning in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, not far from the Ontario-Minnesota border.

A fire near Bezhik Lake was caused by a lightning strike on Monday.

It’s now estimated to have covered more than 16-hundred acres of remote forest.

Closer to home, fire crews were called out to an Island fire on the U.S. side of Rainy Lake at Black Bay.

Much of Koochiching County is listed in extreme fire danger by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
