Incidents Of Crime Increasing In Fort Frances

Crime in the Fort Frances area is showing an increase during the early parts of 2021.

In the first four months, OPP report 61 incidents of violent crime, such as assault, sexual assault and robbery.

There were 48 such incidents in the same period in 2020.

Assaults are up 26 per cent, while there have been four robbery cases compared to none in 2020.

Incidents of property crime are also on the rise.

OPP have responded to 121 calls since the start of the year related to incidents such as theft, break and enter and fraud.

That’s a 61 per cent increase over the same period in 2020.
