I. Falls/ISD #361 strike facilities agreement

The city of International Falls has a new agreement with Independent School District 361 for use of some of its recreational facilities.

It covers Holler and Rizzo Fields and Kerry Park.

City Solicitor Chelsea Nelson says it allow for the school board, through its athletic director to handle the scheduling of facilities with the use of an online system.

“It doesn’t take effect until July 1, and it is a one-year contract. So it’s kind of our first go at it. We’ll see how it works this year and what works well, we’ll stay, and if we have to tweak things, we’ll tweak them,” says Nelson.

There are no fees associated with the agreement, but the School District is covering insurance requirements.

“We agree that they can use our facilities, and they’re putting up the proof that they’re covered by insurance, whatever they schedule on those properties, the fees and whatnot, are going to come afterwards,” says Ted Brokaw, the city’s Street and Water Commissioner.
