If you recently purchased a Hampton Bay ceiling fan from Home Depot, you’ll want to check to see if it is affected.
The company is recalling the Mara 54 inch fan in Matte white and Matte black.
There is a risk the ceiling fan blades can detach during use.
Over 5000 of the fans were sold in Canada, between May and October of 2020.
There have been no reports of incidents here, but in the United States, Home Depot has received 47 reports of a blade detaching.
In two of those incidents, a person was hit by a flying blade, and in four others, the blade caused other damages.
Consumers should immediately stop using the fan and contact King of Fans for instructions on how to inspect your ceiling fan for defects. If an issue is identified, King of Fans will offer a replacement or refund.
