Health Unit Now Following Four Active Cases

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting two new positive cases of COVID-19.

Both are in the Dryden and Red Lake region.

The Health Unit no longer provides exact locations, citing privacy concerns.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says both of these cases, and the two reported last week from the Kenora area, were contracted outside of the region.

“They have no local contacts and were in isolation prior to symptoms,” confirms Dr. Young Hoon. “The two news cases are travel-related. We have two active cases in the Kenora area, and those are also travel-related.”

At least one of the cases was in Manitoba recently.

There have been a total of 73 cases since the start of the pandemic in March.

Thirteen cases have been in the Rainy River district, which has seen new cases in several weeks.
