Health Unit Looks At Specific Responses To Kenora Area

The Kenora area could see more restrictions go into effect following a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Many of the new cases are on Wabaseemoong Nation, northwest of Kenora. There are also cases on the Northwest Angle #33 First Nation.

Northwestern Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kit Young Hoon, says they continue to work with area First Nations.

“Case and contact management is on-going. We’re doing that in partnership with other agencies, and we’re monitoring the situation very closely,” says Dr. Young Hoon.

“We are also looking closely at whether additional restrictions are going to be required in the Kenora area.”

Dr. Young Hoon says most of the new cases are primarily affecting the Kenora area right now, making it a challenge to throw blanket restrictions on the entire region.

The Health Unit is talking with the province about its options.
