From Haunted Halls to Trail Terrors

Whether you’re a costume DIY master or just in it for the candy, Northwestern Ontario has plenty of eerie excitement to offer. Here’s your guide to the most spirited happenings in Fort Frances, Atikokan, and Rainy River.


Fort Frances

Halloween Bash @ the FF Legion Br.29

Date: October 31st, 2025

Time: 9PM – 1AM

Location: Fort Frances Royal Canadian Legion Br.29

This late-night fright fest is for grown-up ghouls only. With costume contests, music, and a bar that’s more treat than trick, it’s the perfect way to dance with the undead. Admission is $10 for non-members, $5 for Legion members.

Halloween Bash – Your Borderland

Atikokan

Haunted Library Night

Date: October 30th, 2025

Time: 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Location: Atikokan Public Library

Books and boos collide in this spooky storytelling session. Expect ghost tales, creepy crafts, and maybe a librarian in a vampire cape. Great for kids and brave bookworms alike.

Rainy River

Trail of Terror

Date: October 28th, 2025

Time: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Location: Rainy River Trail System, starting at Government Dock

Rainy River’s biggest scare-fest returns with a haunted walk through the woods. Lantern-lit paths, costumed creepers, and a few surprises make this a must-do for thrill-seekers. Waivers required—because you never know what’s lurking in the trees.

Whether you’re carving pumpkins or dodging zombies in the woods, these events promise a frightfully good time. Just remember: costumes are encouraged, flashlights are optional, and bravery is absolutely required.
