Fort Frances preparing for big dump of snow

The town of Fort Frances has issued its Declaration of Significant Weather Event.

Environment Canada and the National Weather Service are forecasting the possibility of 15 to 20 cm of snow falling on Tuesday.

The Declaration allows for measures that help with snow clearing.

This includes a ban on on-street parking to make it easier for plows to clear the streets.

The Declaration takes effect at 6 a.m. Tuesday, with the parking ban beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m.

The downtown core is exempt from this ban.

It is the first time this winter that the town has issued the Declaration.

Environment Canada says the snow will start falling overnight, tapering off Tuesday night.

It could make travel difficult.

Motorists can expect reduced visibility with the heavy and blowing snow.
