Fort Frances home damaged by early morning fire

A vacant home in Fort Frances has been damaged by fire.

Members of the Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service were called to the home on Wright Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire was mainly contained to the second floor, but other areas were damaged by smoke and water.

Fire officials say a sweep of the home’s basement and first floor did not find anyone.

Because of the extent of damage to the second floor, fire crews were not able to immediately determine if anyone was there.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The home was recently vacated.
