Coteau was the former Community and Social Service Minister under Kathleen Wynne’s cabinet. He also also one of seven Liberals to win a seat in last June’s provincial election.
He joins former transportation minister Steven Del Duca and Alvin Tedjo, a former political aide, as those seeking the leadership nod.
The Liberals will elect their leader at a convention planned for next March.
