What is expected to be the first of many hall of fame nods, former Fort Frances native Duncan Keith is being inducted into the British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame.
Keith played junior hockey in B.C. after leaving Fort Frances with his family at the age of fourteen.
He spent two years with the Penticton Panthers of the BC Junior Hockey League, and later a season with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL after two seasons with Michigan State of the NCAA.
Keith would enjoy a 17-year career in the NHL, sixteen with the Chicago Black Hawks before retiring last year after one season with the Edmonton Oilers.
He played on three Stanley Cup-winning teams with Chicago and earned two Olympic gold medals as part of Canada’s teams in 2010 and 2014.
Keith played minor hockey in Fort Frances. He returned in 2015 with the Stanley Cup in August for community celebration, visiting family and friends and making donations to local hockey programs.
Keith will officially be honoured during a ceremony in July.
