Ford Talks Health Care With Atlantic Canada

Health care dominated the talks for Ontario Premier Doug Ford while in the Atlantic provinces.

Ford met with his counterparts in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI to explore ways to resolving the health care pressures.

Ford says it still needs the support of the federal government.

“We’re working collaboratively together. We’re going to come up with a strong solution that works for everyone in Canada. But again, we can’t do it alone. We need the support of the federal government,” says Ford.

The Premier says they also want input from hospital executives, doctors and nurses.

Ford notes the health care crisis is impacting the entire country, and the status quo is no longer working.

“We need to be creative. We need to come up with ideas from the sector, not just us sitting around the table having a conversation, but it’s a sector that matters. And we’re going to work hand in hand with our CEOs of the hospitals and the docs and nurses, anyone who’s involved in the sector to come up with real solutions that we can deliver great, great health care in a rapid fashion. And again, not sitting in an emergency room for 12 hours to be seen. I’m very, very confident working with the federal government we’re going to come up with a great solution to make health care better and the best in the world right here in Canada across the entire country from coast to coast to coast.”

Ford also met with Domenic Leblanc where he suggested a larger meeting with all Premier and Territorial leaders.
