FN Child Advocate Weighs In On Election

An advocate for First Nation children is disappointed federal party leaders are not discussing the issue during the election campaign.

Cindy Blackstock tells us that it is especially true following a recent multi-million dollar compensation ruling in favour of Indigenous kids.

Blackstock is pleased the prime minister was forced to answer questions about the human rights case.

She says “when they are wrong they (politicians) don’t like talking about it.”

The prominent First Nation leader believes the parliamentary budget office should cost out what she believes are all the problems facing Indigenous youth.

Blackstock insists “without a plan these inequalities will linger.”
