First Nations Youth Focus On Climate Change

A new project involving youth from the Treaty 3 area has been launched.

It’s looking at climate change as it affects local First Nations.

Shirley Kelly from Shooniya Wa-Biitong says it serves a couple of purposes.

“The youth will be starting to develop their projects in terms of what they want to work on, it will be specific to climate change awareness,” says Kelly. “They will be starting on the project and they will be learning employment readiness skills and career awareness.”

Thirty-six youth have been chosen for this project and come from Grassy Narrows, Whitefish Bay and Onigaming First Nations.
