Fire Situation Under Control

The forest fire situation in northwestern Ontario appears to remain under control.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports fires near Pikangikum, Pickle Lake and Trout Lake are no longer causing any real threats.

A total of ten fires are still considered active

There was one new start yesterday, located south of Lower Wabakimi Lake within Wabakimi Provincial Park.

One of the active fires is a small blaze burning near Straw Lake, north of Fort Frances.

It’s small in size and the Ministry reports it is only monitoring that fire.
