The International Falls Fire Department is receiving a financial gift for its involvement in a recent fire at the Packaging Corporation of America mill.
The May 23rd fire broke out after a power outage, but the damage was minimal.
Fire Chief Adam Mannausau says PCA has given his department ten thousand dollars.
“We are very appreciative of that. That will go along with us to further some education and training opportunities. Hopefully, get something, maybe a higher geared, higher-end training course in here that costs a little bit more money,” says Mannausau.
In a letter, mill manager Michael Wagner states city firefighters demonstrated skill and professionalism in their response.
A paper machine was down for only 48 hours after the fire before it was back working again.
