Fire ban lifted at Voyageurs National Park

Campfires are not allowed in northwestern Ontario, but they are permitted at Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota.

The park removed the ban imposed a few weeks ago yesterday afternoon.

The park says the amount of rainfall received in northern Minnesota has reduced the fire danger for the short term.

Between 1.5 and 2 inches were measured in the past week.

The park says campfires are allowed in designated metal fire rings situated around the area.

Charcoal-fueled fires in metal fire rings and grills are also permitted.

Fireworks are not allowed.

The park bans those year-round.
