Fewer Catholic Teachers In Class Next Year

The Northwest Catholic District School Board is projecting a decline to its staffing requirements for the next school year.

The Board estimates its schoolswill operate with the equivalent of 14 fewer positions including eight fewer teachers.

In Fort Frances, the new St. Mary School will need 3 fewer teachers with total staffing reduced from the current 35.11 positions to just under 30.

St. Mary School is bringing together staff and students now attending St. Michael’s and St. Francis elementary schools.

Staffing at St. Patrick’s School in Atikokan and Our Lady of the Way in Stratton will remain virtually the same as they are now.

The board also expects to see 24 fewer students across the system in September.
