Feds Look To Clean-up Sites

The federal government is earmarking $1.6 billion dollars to clean up contaminated federal sites across Canada.

The money will go toward assessing 242 sites and remediation to another 13-hundred.

There are over 80 sites identified in the Rainy River district impacted by some sort of contamination.

The Five Mile Wharf, and specific areas around Rainy River First Nation, Naitcatchewin, Seine River and Couchiching among those considered high to medium-high priorities.
