Drugs Seized In Dryden

A traffic stop on Highway 17 has resulted in a major drug bust for Provincial Police.

Officers pulled over a vehicle on Thursday afternoon in Dryden which led to a search warrant and charges against two men.

Police seized over one kilogram of crystal Methamphetamine, 1.41 grams of crack cocaine, 4.31 grams of heroin, ten Oxycodone tablets, 135 tablets of hydromorphone, 52 tablets of various prescription medications, a firearm with ammunition, Canadian cash and drug-related items.

The estimated street value of the crystal meth is $217 thousand.

OPP say 30-year-old Benjamin Fumerton of Wabigoon faces a total of eight charges including five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

27-year-old Wade Wetelainen of Wabigoon Lake First Nation faces seven charges; five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and being in a car knowing that there was an illegal weapon inside.

Fumerton is due in court today, while Wetelainen was released and will have his day in court on March 23rd.
