The iconic stars of the classic Canadian television franchise ‘Degrassi’ are coming to Thunder Bay this September, as the latest addition to the guest list for Thundercon includes Pat Mastroianni and Stacie Mistysyn aka Joey Jeremiah and Caitlin Ryan.
“I’m excited to bring 2 of Canadian TV’s Icons,” says Guest Lead Toller Madsen. “When you think of 80’s Degrassi, you instantly think of Pat and Stacie.”
The two were the original ‘power couple’ and were widely regarded as the heart and soul of this groundbreaking series, which spawned 5 series over 40 years with 3 movies that collectively earned the franchise 28 Gemini awards.
Two of those awards include a best performance for a lead actor for Mastrioanni in 1989, and best performance for a lead actress for Mistycyn in 1989.
Guests of Thundercon had been asking for a guest or guests from Degrassi for several years, according to Media Director Heather Dickson.
“We’ve been talking with Pat for years, but the schedules never worked out. This year, we moved our dates to earlier in September, so we were able to make it work with both Pat and Stacie.”
Earlier this month the annual convention announced GI Joe comic creator Larry Hama as one of its first guests for the event scheduled to take place on September 9th and 10th.
