The U.S. Department of Transportation notes a decline in the movement of goods by rail through the Fort Frances-International Falls border.
Just over one billion dollars worth of goods were moved in June.
That is off about $200 million from May’s numbers.
Chemicals, minerals and wood and wood products accounted for more than half of June’s shipments.
About two-thirds of shipments were items headed to U.S. markets.
For the year, shipments are down almost 25 per cent.
In despite of the declines, the Fort Frances-International Falls border remains the third busiest rail port of entry along the Canada-U.S. border behind Port Huron, Michigan and Detroit.
