Death investigated at Wauzhushk Onigum

OPP and Treaty Three Police are investigating a sudden death in Wauzhushk Onigum (Rat Portage) First Nation.

A man was found dead in the community on April 22.

He has since been identified as 77-year-old Victor Longe of Sioux Narrows Township.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto, but the cause of death has not been released.

The OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch, Regional Support Team, Major Crime Investigation Team, and Northwest Region Crime Unit are now involved in the investigation.

Police say there is no further public safety concern at this time.
