Council Discusses Budget Today

Fort Frances town council will get a closer look at the budget numbers for 2023 today.

They are holding a special meeting this morning.

The draft operating budget is currently showing a deficit of $525 thousand.

That equates to an increase in the residential tax rate of 5.17 per cent if no changes are made.

There is also over $16 million in proposed capital spending, including plans for a new splash park.

More than half of that is connected to projects that were budgeted for last year but never completed or started because of last year’s flood.

Some projects were also impacted by supply chain issues.
