Community Garden Seeking Water

Members of the Fort Frances Community Garden are looking for greater access to water.

They’re now filling several tanks by running garden hoses to the homes of nearby volunteers.

They’re now turning to the town with possible alternatives.

It could include the use of a nearby fire hydrant or establishing a dedicated water line directly to the Lillie Avenue site.

Member Elaine Fischer says they’re now drawing water from the homes of nearby volunteers.

“While the growth of the garden has been great for the community, our ability to supply the water is becoming a burden and a barrier for future expansion,” says Fischer. “We want to work with the town to find a solution to our water barrier.”

Fischer says they would seek out grants, sponsorships and in-kind contributions to help make either option possible.

Council has agreed to review the request further at the committee level.
