Fort Frances Community Garden was named Friday as one of six organizations to receive funding from the Tbaytel for Good Community Fund. A grant of $2,238 will go to support the garden, which provides a vital green space, allowing residents to cultivate their own produce and access healthy, lower-cost food.
59 organizations applied to the fund this year to receive a portion of the $30,000 in funding.
The other five organizations to receive money from the fund:
The Wabshkaa Animkii Benessi program: $10,000 for its after-school meal program.
Schrieber Public School: $10,000 for its project to enhance access to fresh produce by operating a garden tower greenhouse.
St. Andrew’s Dew Drop Inn: $3,287.50 for hygiene bags
Camp Quality: $2,238 will cover the admission for one child to attend the camp
The Undercover Project: $2,238 will support a program that focuses on the safe, efficient, and comfortable distribution of socks and underwear to families in need
