The organizers of The I Falls Bass Championship were nice enough to ask me to be one of the judges for their “Casting Call” singing competition on August 22nd. It was a real thrill!

My co-judges for the evening were Robb Pastor and Judith Nelson.
Robb is the CEO of Rainy Lake Medical Center and a former DJ from back in the day during his time in the Detroit area.
Judith is from a musical group called The Sloughgrass Band. Dawn’s group even performed at one of the Harmony of Nations Music Festivals here in Fort Frances a few years ago.
Together we had a tough job ahead of us!

9 talented musical acts took to the stage in Smokey Bear Park, they included…
Brenda Jones, Jennifer Hill, Nick McDougall and Bill Piekarsky who performed “Me & Bobby McGee” as practically a full bad!

6 year old Gabe Norton also gave it his all while singing the Blake Shelton hit “God’s Country.” Way to go Gabe!

Now for the award winners…
3rd place went to Mason Wilson who performed an ORIGINAL song called “Makers.” Mason has a great voice and he’s one heck of a guitar player as well!

2nd place went to Madison Foss who sang a FANTASTIC version of the Etta James classic “At Last.” Madison really knew how to connect with the crowd through her voice as she also won the People’s Choice Award as well!

1st place went to Tina Larson who rocked the stage with a STELLAR rendition of Lady Gaga’s “You & I.” Tina’s vocals were on point and you could FEEL her energy from the stage!

What a wonderful night. Congrats to ALL the performers!
