Cash For Fort Frances Airport

The town of Fort Frances has some extra cash for airport operations.

The over $225 thousand from FedNor was announced prior to the election call.

Mayor June Caul says the airport has been one of the hardest-hit municipal facilities during the pandemic.

“Not being able to be open during the pandemic has been very, very difficult. This funding certainly helps us out in a huge way,” says Caul.

Exactly how the money will be used is still to be determined.

The town’s Operations and Facilities manager Travis Rob says that will be determined next month.

“Not that we received the funding, we’re going to bring a report to council probably the next council meeting outlining how we want to utilize this funding to help our airport operations going forward,” says Rob.

Much of the airport use this year has been for medical evacuation and forest fire operations.
