Canteen services up for discussion at town council meeting

Canteen services at the Memorial Sports Centre will be a focus of attention when Fort Frances town council meets this evening.

Two bids were received, including one from Tess’s Kitchen.

It has operated the canteen for the past two years with its contract expiring in June.

Town administration recommends it be taken over by The Penalty Box Canteen, operated by Riley Pollard.

A report from administration says Pollard’s bid stood out as “the standout choice” as it proposes to offer a menu that includes healthy choices, a mobile app ordering system and extended hours.

The town would also earn $7,200 in return, an increase from the $2,655 received over the past year.
