BIA prepared to pay for insurance

The Fort Frances Downtown Business Improvement Association says it is willing to pay the cost of the insurance vendors need to use Rainy Lake Square.

Council last week approved having the town acquire the insurance and pass the cost onto vendors in the form of a fee.

A charge of $10 per day and $50 for the season was okayed.

The BIA has now informed the town it will cover the $1,200 cost so vendors don’t pay a fee.

A review of its insurance policy led to the town needing liability insurance from vendors.

It also sought vendors to have a business license.

The BIA stepped in earlier this year and acquired a license covering anyone who uses the Square during the Market Thursdays.
