Be Cautious And Be Prepared This Forest Fire Season

The forest fire hazard remains in the high to extreme range across most of northwestern Ontario.

Just across the border, most of Koochiching County is also listed in extreme fire danger by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry fire crews continue to deal with a number of forest fires across northwestern Ontario. Some of these fires have now consumed thousands of hectares.

The forecast is calling for rain over the next day of so. Let’s hope that it helps the situation on most of these fronts.

Meanwhile, it’s being suggested that we all be extra cautious with outdoor burning right now.

With the extreme fire hazard in the region and the number of fires currently burning, it’s a good idea to take the time to be prepared in the event of an evacuation or an emergency.

Prepare for 72 hours by having any necessary medication, water, pet food, etc. It’s also a good idea to keep your vehicle filled up with fuel as well.

Resources are available on the Government of Canada website and also the Ontario website.
