Many parents and guardians have been anticipating this day; kids going back to their classrooms for the first time since the end of the holiday break.
The Ford Government extended the break, leading to students learning remotely. This was to allow for more PPE for education staff and students to be sent out, more HEPA filters for schools, as well as more rapid tests being passed down from the federal government.
Things you’ll need to know for back to school today:
- kindergarten students are required to wear masks
- testing & isolation requirements have been updated (read them here)
- two rapid tests/per student will be going home with kids
- PCR tests will be given to students/staff who develop symptoms while at school
- reporting cases won’t be known until approximately 30 per cent of staff and students are absent according to Dr. Kieren Moore, Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health
