Arson charges laid against Big Grassy First Nation man

One person has been charged in connection with a cabin fire in the west end of the Rainy River District.

The cabin in Lake of the Woods Township was destroyed in the blaze that occurred at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The call initially came to the Kenora Fire Service, which then notified the Ontario Provincial Police.

Further investigation by Provincial Police and Treaty 3 Police Service led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man from Big Grassy First Nation.

He has since been charged with two counts of arson and theft of a stolen vehicle.
