Ecoideas Innovations Inc. is recalling products from its Apricot Power brand due to possible cyanide poisoning.
The two products include Bitter Raw Apricot Seeds and Apricot Seed Meal.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says the products have incorrect dosage information and “excessive consumption may cause cyanide poisoning.”
The agency says bitter apricot kernels naturally contain a toxin called amygdalin, which can release cyanide when ingested.
“Small amounts of cyanide can be detoxified by the human body, but high amounts may be lethal,” said the agency.

There have been no reported illnesses to date, according to the CFIA.
Symptoms of acute exposure to high levels of cyanide may include headache, dizziness, mental confusion, weakness, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, seizures and coma.
Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
