At Least 60 Dead in Afghanistan Suicide Bombings

The Afghan Health Ministry has confirmed at least 60 dead, and 140 wounded after what looks like two suicide bombings outside the Abbey Gate near the Hamid Karzai International Airport and at the nearby Baron Hotel.

There were also 12 American soldiers killed in the attacks.

United States General Kenneth F. McKenzie has said that the American evacuation at Kabul will continue.

The detonations were followed by gunfire though it has not been confirmed which groups were firing the shots.

This comes as a majority of Canadian military personnel are on their way home with the conclusion of the mission.

Acting Chief of the Defence staff General Wayne Eyre said Thursday that Canada evacuated roughly 3,700 people from Afghanistan.
