Ontario Provincial Police and their annual Festive RIDE campaign are back in force.
The campaign targets drivers who may be alcohol or drug-impaired.
Police enter this year with some enhanced tools and authorities. Officers with an approved screening device who pull over a driver can now demand a breath sample without having reasonable suspicion the driver has alcohol in their body.
OPP also have drug screening equipment which can detect cannabis and cocaine in a driver’s saliva.
The campaign runs through to January 2.
