Kasper Still Talking With Government About Bus Service

After a year of meetings at Queen’s Park, a northern Ontario bus company owner is still waiting for provincial government assistance.

Kasper Wabinski owns Kasper Transportation and says Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford personally told him the government agrees the region needs a bus service.

“Obviously that’s not always a simple thing to do with the government trying to reduce the deficit. It may be frustrating, the whole process of going through the loops with the government,” says Wabinski.

However, the transportation company owner adds he feels the government has the right people involved to help achieve his vision of providing service.

“Trying to be on good terms and work together on feeling the need to have standards and the expectations that customers have. It still in the process of being established.”

The Kasper Transportation owner notes he was in operation before Greyhound ended its services in northwestern Ontario, providing a service he felt was needed.

Meantime, Rickford won’t say much more other than he’s committed to working with private carriers and the provincially run Ontario Northland since Greyhounds departure.”

“I saw this is more of an opportunity given the long and painful retreat that they made.”
