Riverside Foundation for Health Care Black & White Gala

The Riverside Foundation for Health Care held their annual fundraising gala on October 26th at The Copper River Inn.

All proceeds will be used to purchase a new microbiology system, which is shared by several facilities in our area. They include La Verendrye Hospital here in Fort Frances, Atikokan General Hospital and even clinics and health centers in Rainy River and Emo.

This year it was a swanky “Black and White” theme and guests dressed up in their finest!

The decorating was on point as well!

It was an evening of gourmet food and drink. My personal favorites were the lobster ravioli and the cookies and cream cocktail!

John Homer from Causeway Insurance did a wonderful job as emcee…trust me…these gigs aren’t easy!

Aside from purchasing a table or a dinner ticket for the event, there we all kinds of awesome ways to help donate to this important local cause.

If you bought a ticket for the Grand Prize Draw, then you had a chance to win a $1,000 package of alcohol complete with a bar cart…I didn’t win!

There were all kinds fun and games to be had…

You could donate to take part in a game if “Heads Or Tails”…If you’ve never played before…They flip a coin and you have to guess heads or tails by placing your hands on either you head or your butt. If you guess right, then you move on to the next round until there is one final winner. In this case the winner walked away with half of the money that the game raised, which was over $500…I was out after the first round!

You could also purchase a “Money Box” with one winner taking home $100 after everyone opened their tiny containers towards the end of the night.

There were Penny and Silent Auction tables with great prizes generously donated by local business and organizations. I bid on a Tim Horton’s Gift Basket and a Gift Certificate for Ink Spotz Apparel…and I won them both!

There was a chance to get a commemorative picture taken thanks to Amanda Caron from Honey and Clove Photography.

One of the Highlights was Telford Advent…a professional quality auctioneer…overseeing the Live Auction portion of the evening. He was hilarious and I have no doubt that he got the bidders to donate a lot more!

Members of The Rainy Lake Community Orchestra provided beautiful background music which really added to the ambiance.

A few of The 908 Rainy Lake Air Cadets were on hand to show guests to their seats and to help sell some of the fundraising items as well.

Riverside Foundation Director Allison Cox and everyone who worked so hard to make this night a HUGE success should be very proud of themselves!
