Cold Weather Testing Facility Put On Hold

Plans for a second cold-weather testing facility in Koochiching County have been put on hold.

Craig Hopkins of Automotive Testing Solutions was proposing the facility near Littlefork.

Speaking last week to the Koochiching Economic Development Authority board, Director Paul Nevanen says the proponent couldn’t reach an agreement with a corporate partner.

“He was very disappointed, very frustrated but he just felt he couldn’t go forward without some assurances and a signed agreement with these folks,” says Nevanen.

The proposed facility was to include a test track and would have evaluated components like brakes and cruise control units.

Nevanan says Hopkins indicated he may revisit the project if things can be reworked.

An existing facility in International Falls continues to operate.
