Reiki Information & Sample Session

Afternoon Show Blog

I recently took in a Reiki Information & Sample Session at The Fort Frances Public Library.

It was hosted by Pamela Murray of White Rose Holistic Healing. I got that chance to speak with her one on one and I even received a Reiki treatment. It was actually the second time I’ve had a treatment like this with Pamela, as she’s been known to attend public events like the Rainy Lake Square Market to promote the healing power or Reiki.

If you’ve never heard of Reiki before…here are a few quick facts…

It’s a form of alternative medicine and therapeutic touch therapy called ‘energy healing”” which was first developed in Japan almost 100 years ago.

It’s a combination of two Japanese words. “Rei” which means “higher power” and “Ki” which means “life force energy”.

Reiki practitioners use a technique called “palm healing” or “hands-on healing” through which a ‘universal energy” is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.

Pamela spent about 15 minutes with me laying her hands on my head and neck and shoulders. She also was careful to tell me that if I felt her hands leave those places, she was still doing the treatment, her hands were just “around’ me rather than “on” me. It was definitely peaceful and relaxing…except when I was talking too much…surprise surprise.

According to Pamela, we all have energy and a restriction in the flow of that energy makes us more vulnerable to sickness and ailments.

Reiki energy is said to have its own intelligence. It flows where it is needed. It adjusts and shifts energy to promote healing.

Those who believe in the power of Reiki say that it can help to balance you emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. It is also said to help reduce pain, headaches and stress.

I’m not posting this in order to push you into believing anything. I’m just passing along information to you based on a personal experience I’ve had.

If you’re interested, seek out Pamela for yourself to learn more!
