Trudeau Pledges To Work For Unity

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is outlining his plans to unite a divided Canada.

Trudeau spoke to media for the first time Thursday since his party won a Liberal minority government and highlighted how he would work on representing western Canada.

“It’s extremely important that the government works for all Canadians. As I have endeavoured to do over the past years, as I will do even more now, I will be reaching out to leaders across the country and reaching out specifically to westerners. We will work with other parties to ensure we are making the right decisions for all Canadians,” says Trudeau.

Trudeau says he looks forward to working with the other parties on important issues like climate change.

He admitted he wouldn’t reverse his decision on the Trans Mountain Pipeline project despite the NDP being against it.

Trudeau also said his new cabinet would be gender-neutral.

He said he would be sitting down with the other party leaders to discuss what their priorities are but notes there will be no formal or informal coalition.
