Plenty Of Issues For Council To Tackle

Fort Frances town council has started working on a new strategic plan.

They started the discussions earlier this week with administration.

Mayor June Caul says they had some good dialogue.

“It was a very good discussion, very positive. It’s nice to be able to sit down and have no interruptions and just deal with something like that without having to worry about anything else,” says Caul.

A number of issues came to the table. The future of the mill property topped the list. Furthering partnerships with area First Nations, tourism, housing and senior housing were also touched upon.

Caul says another was getting more young people involved in the decision-making process.

“They are a very important demographic in town. They are our future and we need to look to them for advice as well and hopefully get them on board with council, more committees or whatever.”

Caul says administration is now going over the notes to organize and compile them into a shorter list before coming together again in the near future.

Caul says they’ll take a document out to the community for further feedback.
