Too Much Water For New Gold

Rain is having an effect on operations at New Gold’s Rainy River mine.

The company says the mine site received in the last three months more than 60 per cent more rainfall than the 30-year average for the area.

That’s caused water levels at its tailings site to increase.

It’s forced New Gold to focus attention on that water which it says may cause sporadic interruptions to processing facilities.

The excess water is being transferred to a water management pond through a recently commissioned water treatment plant.

Rainwater is also being diverted from the site where possible.
