New Phys Ed/Health Curriculum Unveiled

The provincial government has unveiled a new health and physical education curriculum for the elementary grades with the start of a new school year less than two weeks away.

The revised curriculum puts a focus on physical activity, skill development, and mental health.

Issues of bullying, cannabis, concussions, and online safety are covered.

The discussion of gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation won’t take place now until the latter half of grade 8.

The province says the new curriculum relates to the everyday experiences of students.
