Construction of new passing lanes on Highway 53 between Cook and Ericsburg begins today.
Four new passing lanes are being added.
Motorists going through the construction zones can expect delays.
The highway in the areas where the lanes are going will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers.
Construction is expected to wrap up by mid-October.
