The federal government has now approved its share of funding for three infrastructure projects in the Rainy River District under a new joint program.
Nearly $1.6 million will go to projects in Fort Frances, Alberton township and Dawson township.
Northern Development and Mines Minister and Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford announced the provincial share for those projects in May.
Fort Frances is receiving $890-thousand from the federal government and $600-thousand from Ontario to upgrade a half-kilometre section of Colonization Road West.
The township of Alberton will use more than $330-thousand in federal dollars and $185-thousand from the province to replace the Kehl Bridge deck with a twin culvert bridge. Some paving of the Kehl Road around the bridge is also planned.
Dawson township will get $370-thousand from the federal government and $205-thousand from the provincial government to replace a culvert and repair a small section of Colonization Road in that rural community.
